Church of Craft rapidly approaching…

Hey all, it’s that time of month again! Church of Craft is meeting for our monthly craft-on this Saturday, May 29th from 1 – 4pm. We’re looking forward to seeing you there… don’t forget to bring your latest project. Or the one you started last year and haven’t touched since. For real. We’ll help you get right back on track!

Wondering what this is all about? Church of Craft is open to all creative types that want to stop in and get crafty. Our space is free to you for the afternoon, but remember to come early to get the spot you want! We’ve got plenty of room for you to spread out and work hard on your project!

We’re there to help answer questions and give our advice and humble opinions, but remember, for uninterrupted time with a Seamologist you should schedule a private lesson!

Church of Craft is in the new ‘hood!

This weekend will be our first Church of Craft meeting at our new location! Come on in and try out the new space… Bring in your current project or just come in and get inspired by some of the things other people are working on! I’ve been telling myself for weeks that I should be sewing more clothes for myself so I think I’ll get started on Saturday during our meeting! Hope to see you there on Saturday, April 24th from 1 – 4pm!

We Challenge You…

This month during our Church of Craft craft-on we will be participating in a great charity project – The 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge:

Calling all quilters, sewers and crafters! American Patchwork & Quilting is challenging you to join our efforts to Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference. Every pillowcase can make a difference in your community. A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident.

We’ll all be getting together to work on our pillowcases. We have many donated fabrics for you to use or you can bring your own or purchase some here at Stitch Cleveland. Bring your machine if you have one and a basic sewing kit (scissors, thread, etc…) and we’ll make space for you at our last event in this location. Check out the 1 Million Pillowcases Challenge website for free patterns and more information about this great event.

Our event will be on Saturday, March 27th from 1 – 4pm. See you then!

What’s happening at Church of Craft this weekend…

Hi all! It’s the last Saturday of the month already… as Spring gets closer we bet you’ll want to be starting that warm weather wardrobe! Church of Craft will meet on Saturday and we’ll be talking about measurements and choosing the right pattern.

Megan will take you through the basic measurements you’ll need to purchase a commercial pattern as well as the measurements you can check once you get your pattern home to make sure that you’re hardwork results in something you’ll actually wear! Feel free to bring your fit questions and we’ll talk!

This won’t be organized as a class, but more of an open forum for you to ask questions and get advice about commercial patterns and measurements. Guys… don’t be shy… this won’t be strictly for the girls.

As always, Church of Craft is a free social event held at Stitch Cleveland on the last Saturday of each month from 1 – 4pm. We want you to bring your latest projects to show off or get advice! No registration or RSVPs needed… just be there!

Saturday is Church of Craft!

Hope to see you here at Stitch Cleveland for Church of Craft. We’re the official meeting place for the Cleveland chapter of this international organization. Bring your sewing, knitting, crochet, drawing… whatever! We want to see it! This is a fun, free, social afternoon where you can work while in the company of other like-minded creative types!

See you here from 1 – 4pm!

During this month’s meeting, Megan will show us how to insert an invisible zipper… come one come all!

Church on Saturday…

Don’t forget to join us for Church of Craft on it’s new day – the last Saturday of each month. This is a great time to find some inspiration for your next project. Bring in what your working on for some input or praise (everyone needs a cheerleader)!

See you tomorrow from 1 – 4pm!

American Sewing Expo

Greetings from Michigan! Heidi and Megan will be visiting the American Sewing Expo in Novi, Michigan September 25th. Unfortunately, Stitch Cleveland will be closed but we’ll be back on Saturday for another action packed weekend of sewing and Church of Craft. Stop in, Church of Craft is open to all crafties on the last Saturday of each month from 1 – 4pm!

UPDATE: Well, we’re back from our wonderful day trip through sunny Michigan. What a great show! We traveled in a van so that we would have plenty of space for all of our purchases. We found some great things: habatoi silks in beautiful colors, batiks, houndstooth gazar silk, houndstooth corduroy (I must have been in a mood), and a few knits and bottomweights. We are so excited to begin sewing. On the way home we had a show and tell and tried to decide what to make first!

Make time to make stuff!

Now that the new school year is upon us, we will all need to be more diligent about planning! Church of Craft is the perfect opportunity to make time for yourself. We’re meeting on the last Saturday of the month now at Stitch Cleveland from 1 – 4pm! Stop in… it’s really an informal social setting for you to get your crafty on. Bring in some projects you’ve been meaning to get to or some things you’ve completed. We can help you or give you praise for your flawless and wonderful creations! We’ll see you tomorrow!
