New schedule & pricing

You asked for it, you got it! We’re standardizing our private lesson prices across the board and offering more of them. Unless otherwise stated, all private lessons with each of our three instructors are $25 as of 1 September 2008. Private knitting lesson with Shannon? $25. Two-hour class with Megan? $50! Three and half hours of hands-on help from Heidi? Well… you can do the math. Kit fees, if any, are not included in the hourly instructor fee.

What does this mean for the printed schedule? We’re redesigning it so it makes more sense in light of the new prices, and it will be available online as a PDF soon. Meanwhile, feel free to call the shop and ask about any class — we’ll happily get you signed up!

Plain Dealer article today

Stitch Cleveland is featured in a Plain Dealer Arts & Life section article today:

See the second page here, including an adorable photo of Megan drafting a pattern. Or, read the whole thing online at the Plain Dealer’s website.

We were mentioned on WCPN (NPR) today!

Ok, ok, they called us Stitch Nation instead of Stitch Cleveland, but during a discussion of hot holiday books in which my new book with fellow Clevelander Alexandra Underhill was mentioned, Suzanne DeGaetano of the venerable, fantastic Cleveland Heights bookstore Mac’s Backs (which has taken more than its fair share of dollars from my pocket over the years, I love that store) mentioned Stitch Cleveland, too! Yay!

Church of Craft special announcement

The Most Esteemed Callie Janoff, NYC-based founder of the Church of Craft, sends holiday greetings to the Cleveland chapter:

Don’t forget that the Church of Craft meets here at Stitch Cleveland every third Sunday for non-religious crafty fun!

Looking for something to do with your kids?

Wow! Winter Break is right around the corner. Wondering how on earth to entertain your kids and their friends? How about a sewing lesson? Put that old sewing machine Grandma gave you to work! We offer sewing classes that are appropriate for all age groups and skill levels. You can even learn something new together by taking the Parent and Child Sewing Class — check out our calendar for details. Our First Annual Secret Santa will be held this weekend, December 16th from noon until 5pm. Kids and teens can purchase handmade crafts for $10 and under all day! It will be easy to find something for everyone on their holiday list. There will be volunteers from Cleveland Church of Craft available to walk children through the store if you are on their nice list. (If you’ve been naughty, you’d better make up for it now!)Local artists and designers have been working hard in Santa’s workshop to bring your children some unique and beautiful items, so we’ll see you Sunday.

Amy won’t be here tonight

….but her trunk show will be! We just got a call from Amy and the roads between there and here are too dangerous to drive. She’s sending signed bookplates for the books we have in stock, and treats for tonight if you want to stop by and check out the trunk show. Ohio weather in December — what can we say? Thanks for your understanding and we hope to see you in the shop soon! We’ll be planning another event with Amy for after the holidays, too.
