You asked for it, you got it! We’re standardizing our private lesson prices across the board and offering more of them. Unless otherwise stated, all private lessons with each of our three instructors are $25 as of 1 September 2008. Private knitting lesson with Shannon? $25. Two-hour class with Megan? $50! Three and half hours of hands-on help from Heidi? Well… you can do the math. Kit fees, if any, are not included in the hourly instructor fee.
What does this mean for the printed schedule? We’re redesigning it so it makes more sense in light of the new prices, and it will be available online as a PDF soon. Meanwhile, feel free to call the shop and ask about any class — we’ll happily get you signed up!
Diana Rupp of Make Workshop in NYC is coming to Stitch Cleveland 17 January 2008 to host a book signing / workshop / social event! Here she is at the BUST magazine Craftacular in December 2007, saying hi to us and giving you all a sneak preview.
Ok, ok, they called us Stitch Nation instead of Stitch Cleveland, but during a discussion of hot holiday books in which my new book with fellow Clevelander Alexandra Underhill was mentioned, Suzanne DeGaetano of the venerable, fantastic Cleveland Heights bookstore Mac’s Backs (which has taken more than its fair share of dollars from my pocket over the years, I love that store) mentioned Stitch Cleveland, too! Yay!
Nothing says ‘I ♥ you’ like a gift certificate! Pick up a gift card for Stitch Cleveland in any amount. The recipient can schedule a class at their convenience. We love to teach private lessons or organize group events for you and the recipient to learn together! We can help you put together a great gift for your loved ones. They will thank you all year long for helping them discover their hidden talents!
Wow! Winter Break is right around the corner. Wondering how on earth to entertain your kids and their friends? How about a sewing lesson? Put that old sewing machine Grandma gave you to work! We offer sewing classes that are appropriate for all age groups and skill levels. You can even learn something new together by taking the Parent and Child Sewing Class — check out our calendar for details. Our First Annual Secret Santa will be held this weekend, December 16th from noon until 5pm. Kids and teens can purchase handmade crafts for $10 and under all day! It will be easy to find something for everyone on their holiday list. There will be volunteers from Cleveland Church of Craft available to walk children through the store if you are on their nice list. (If you’ve been naughty, you’d better make up for it now!)Local artists and designers have been working hard in Santa’s workshop to bring your children some unique and beautiful items, so we’ll see you Sunday.
….but her trunk show will be! We just got a call from Amy and the roads between there and here are too dangerous to drive. She’s sending signed bookplates for the books we have in stock, and treats for tonight if you want to stop by and check out the trunk show. Ohio weather in December — what can we say? Thanks for your understanding and we hope to see you in the shop soon! We’ll be planning another event with Amy for after the holidays, too.
So sorry about the giant pause in posts on our website! We have been having some problems with our site but thanks to our ‘IT department’ a.k.a Chase (Megan’s bro and Heidi’s son… we told you the whole family was in on this, right?), we’ve got everything back under control! Please keep the faith and continue to visit us both in the store and on our trusty website!

Etsy.com is using the just launched Meetups Everywhere tool to throw a huge worldwide party on June 18 (Etsy’s birthday). Etsy challenged local creative communities like ours to create, join or step up to organize an Etsy Craft Party in their town, so of course we want to celebrate!!

A great local artist stopped in Stitch today to show some of her latest work… amazing handmade precious metal charms in the shapes of needles and buttons! She is working on some pincushion and thread designs as well. We think they’ll be amazing and are looking forward to offering them at our shop!
BurdaStyle was a blast today. Although our group is still small it is mighty! Lots of pillows were made today as well as a few garments, a bag, and lots of little birdies! Hope to see you next time!
