We love to keep you posted on the projects our students and customers have been working on. It’s inspiring to see what everyone is up to… and motivating enough to keep us all sewing! Liza is a gifted quilter. The other day she brought in her latest creation. We especially loved this quilt because of the fussy cut center detail. Beautiful… check out the close up!

Thanks, Liza!
… are the answer to all of my decorating worries. In one pillow I can incorporate a fancy trim, a solid fabric and two prints! What better way to tie a room together? You can go crazy and add all the print you can find or you can be more subtle and introduce one more adventurous print! See you in class on August 8th at 10am… call to reserve your spot!
We have a great class on the schedule for August that will give your home some seasonal punch!
Placemats are a great way to transform your dining room or kitchen into a luxurious gathering place where you will receive many compliments for your fancy-pants table! What’s great about these placemats is that they are oversized and use iron-on vinyl so that you can simply wipe them off for easy clean up!
At our house we’ve been using cloth napkins for years to save money and the planet. I use a different print for each person in the house and they can use their napkin all day without getting it mixed up with someone else’s. In class I’ll show you how to miter the corners of your napkins for a store bought look!
Join us for this class on August 15th at 1pm. Class fee is $20 – register early to save a spot and get your supply list!
Here’s a good one for summer… a bag lined with contrasting fabric and vinyl for a waterproof trip to the pool! The finished product is washable and great for carrying your wet swimsuit home from the pool. I’ve also put this little tote to work carrying baby wipes or wet diapers in my diaper bag. So handy!
In this class you’ll pick up some new techniques too: exposed zipper application, bias tape, and working with slippery vinyl. In our sample bag we repurposed the vinyl bag that our sheets came in instead of purchasing vinyl.

Meet us here at Stitch Cleveland on August 1st at 1pm for the Wet Bag class. Register ahead of time to reserve your space and get your supply list! This class is $30 +supplies. See you there!
Art Quilt Tuesday, August 18th & 25th, 6:00-8:30pm

Does your sewing machine have an assortment of stitches? Ever wonder what you’ll ever use them all on?? This project is an excellent stitch sampler, you will experiment with the stitches on your machine to create this “art quilt”. You’ll also have several options for finishing.
If you don’t have a sewing machine of your own, don’t let that stop you- we have machines available for classes, just let us know when you register for the class. $60, kit fee.

Just a friendly reminder that our hours have changed for the summer. We will be closed on Sundays for the summer and have moved Church of Craft to the last Saturday of the month from 1 – 4pm. Be sure to mark your calendars!
…for our latest class calendar! We will be opening registration for loads of great new classes by the end of the week. Expect to see some new projects and technique classes as well as some great new patterns!
Here’s a sample from one of our popular classes… Fashion Illustration! This class is usually taught one on one so that we can concentrate on the skills you need to develop, but we’ve recently been thinking it would be great fun to get together in a group and draw one another as fashion figures! Maybe an idea for a girls’ night out???
First we learn about gestural illustration and line quality…

… then we add color and shading…

… then we make our own croquis books!
Some students go on to create select outfits from their sketches for themselves or a model. It’s a great portfolio starter for a student looking to get into fashion school or a fun and artistic new hobby!
Hi all! Well, we are well into another summer at Stitch and couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to our newest intern, Sothea (pronounced sew-tia… you couldn’t ask for anything better). Sothea will be blogging about her experience here on the new page up top there labeled “The Intern Files.”
Make sure to stop in the studio and say hello… or ask a weird question… or bring in a challenging project… we want to give her lots to write about! So far we are keeping her busy with learning how to make adjustments to patterns from test fit muslins, cutting out muslins, and learning how to make small projects like the adorable quilted cosmetic bag shown below! Check the calendar to find the next available class!

Rainy days are the best for sewing aren’t they?? Saturday morning we were thinking just that. Check out these awesome baskets made in this weeks Soft Basket class. We had a great time sewing & watching the rain through the front windows. And it did help that Blackbird had sticky buns and fresh coffee!!
Coordinating some old fabrics from fabric stashes and new fabrics from our store, ducks, birds, flowers and prints-they each have a personality of their own, don’t they?
In this class we learned an easy technique on how to insert a round bottom, channel quilting, how to apply a band, and handles. The handles are pre-made of heavy duty canvas with contrast topstitching to give a utilitarian look to the basket, you could also make the handles of a contrast fabric to give it a different look-all these options are discussed in class.

Warm summer evenings are also great for sewing!
Check out these students and their projects from last Thursday nights Quilted Cosmetic Bags class. Can you tell we had fun? We learned how to quilt, insert a zipper, made a loop handle and a cool zipper pull accent, too!

I was so inspired I made another one the next morning using Amy Butler home dec fabric to match my laptop cover.
