Weekend Workshop…Granny Squares!

OK… so we know you’ve always wanted to make them, but thought they were just too complicated, and then you have to sew them together, too?

Squares are so simple and even more so using some of the new varigated yarns. Try different weights, like sock yarns or , oh yeah…Noro! Give a them a whole new look with your creativity and our ideas. Learn how to read patterns and charts for squares and several methods for joining them, too. Basic crochet is all you need to know to get started. Sunday 2 – 4pm.

New fall classes are now forming, learn some new techniques and have fun doing it!! (Bring along a friend!) Samples for all classes are now in the store. See more details on the schedule. Stitch Cleveland will be closed on Sunday, October 19, 2008. We will be attending the Wearable Art Fashion Show & Boutique, a benefit for CMA Textile Acquisition Fund with Textile Art Alliance. For more info visit www.clevelandart.org/taa. We’ll be open Saturday til 4pm.

River Colors will remain open on Sunday.

So sorry about the giant pause in posts on our website! We have been having some problems with our site but thanks to our ‘IT department’ a.k.a Chase (Megan’s bro and Heidi’s son… we told you the whole family was in on this, right?), we’ve got everything back under control! Project Runway So, have you been watching our hometown girl , Valerie Mayen??? Join us & meet her for episode 3 of Project Runway Season 8 at Prosperity Social Club in Tremont on Thursday, August 12th at 8:30pm. It’s time again for our hand stitching club to meet! We will be meeting on Thursday, July 29th from 6 – 8 pm here at Stitch Cleveland. Bring any of your hand work to stitch up during our meeting. We’ll be on hand for help or just for a little stitch circle socializing!

Gather your stash of unfinished projects in preparation of Church of Craft. We’ll be meeting (as always) on the last Saturday of July, the 31st, from 1 – 4pm. We hope to see you there. Last month we had a good mix of projects going on. Curtains, dresses, patterns, etc… you’ll fit in just fine!

Did you know you can make pants longer? I often have to work my magic on my husband’s pants since he is very tall. He likes his pants on the long side so I like to add a facing to the hem… look for a tutorial and pics tomorrow!

Etsy.com is using the just launched Meetups Everywhere tool to throw a huge worldwide party on June 18 (Etsy’s birthday). Etsy challenged local creative communities like ours to create, join or step up to organize an Etsy Craft Party in their town, so of course we want to celebrate!!

Get your stitch on at Stitch Cleveland, and your local handmade community. Let’s celebrate our rockin’ crafting community right here in Lakewood; Etsy-ers or not, come and see what it’s all about. Bring your craft to show off, and a snack to share. June 18, 6pm. Please RSVP.

A great local artist stopped in Stitch today to show some of her latest work… amazing handmade precious metal charms in the shapes of needles and buttons! She is working on some pincushion and thread designs as well. We think they’ll be amazing and are looking forward to offering them at our shop!

BurdaStyle was a blast today. Although our group is still small it is mighty! Lots of pillows were made today as well as a few garments, a bag, and lots of little birdies! Hope to see you next time!
