We thank each and every one of you for supporting us over the past 5 years. We meet excited and inspired sewists every day who share our passion for sewing and designing – it doesn’t get better than that!! We know how lucky we are to be doing what we love, so thanks to you all !!
Have a fun and loving Thanksgiving day, we are cooking together, I just helped Megan get the turkey dressed for the oven-no sewing involved–haha! It’s gonna be a fun day – playing games with Rex, checking out Megan’s new sewing room and letting the guys do their thing with the lights. We’ll all be together, the most wonderful thing of all!
We will be closed on Friday and Sunday , but will be open 10-4 on Saturday!
Have you seen the new patterns? Adorable raincoats made up in laminated fabrics-way cool! A new shipment of Amy’s patterns is expected to arrive shortly-can’t wait to make one!
Our calendar is filling fast, call to schedule your summer lessons today! Schedule a group lesson with your kids and their friends, we have plenty of easy beginner project ideas geared expecially for them.
Or, what about you? Make a quick summer top, a breezy dress, new placemats or a couple cheerful pillows!
Check our Class schedule here.
The fabulous designers at Project Runway come up wth the most amazing fashions and details, considering the time they have to construct them, don’t they?! I love watching them sketch their designs, and drape their fabrics on the dressforms, too- it’s so workroom-y!! And so much creativity-yikes!! Where do they come up with all those ideas? I’m so glad to see Tim & Heidi again, I missed them, not to mention that they’re back in New York – yay!
Learn how to sketch your designs, drape, make a pattern and construct your dreams, too! Private lessons at Stitch are just the thing to get you started!
Have you seen all the cool projects that you can sew using felted sweaters?? I don’t know about you, but I haven’t been able to find any decent sweaters at Goodwill in colors that I really like, wouldn’t it be cool to find stripes in orange and pink, and turquoise ?? Or blue & green in nice shades, not kelly green, old man grey or maroon. (sorry, nothing against old men!)
OK, then, knitting machine to the rescue! You don’t even have to know how to knit. (really!) Stripes, solids, varigated–in just the right colors for your sewing projects. Knit a skein of yarn, throw into washer to felt–imagine the possibilities!!
Here are a few knit samples before felting…
Felted bags, mittens, toys, appliques, scarfs…you’ll whittle down mom’s yarn stash in nothin’ flat!
Sign up for the demo on Saturday or Sunday and try your hand at it.
OK, and who doesn’t have enough scarfs?! I have so many, I made this pair of mittens from one I made (on the knitting machine) last year, the ribbing is knit on the machine, too! They are lined with fabric from an old tee. Love them!! (And can you believe that this is the only pair of mittens I have!) Cut and sew – awesome!
yay, it’s on again! I was very impressed with the designs last week and can’t wait to see it again tonight. Did you watch last week?
Wouldn’t you love to have a workroom like Project Runway to spread out your fabric?? Stop in and check out our space, you can rent workshop space for only $10 per afternoon (noon-5pm) Cut out your projects on our awesome cutting table…
Bring your sewing machine and set up in our classroom on one of our spacious tables…
And get some serious stitching done!!! Whether you’re working on products for an upcoming craft show, your fall wardrobe, holiday gifts, or finishing your ufo’s, Stitch Cleveland has space for you! Please call ahead to reserve.
Rainy days are the best for sewing aren’t they?? Saturday morning we were thinking just that. Check out these awesome baskets made in this weeks Soft Basket class. We had a great time sewing & watching the rain through the front windows. And it did help that Blackbird had sticky buns and fresh coffee!!
Coordinating some old fabrics from fabric stashes and new fabrics from our store, ducks, birds, flowers and prints-they each have a personality of their own, don’t they?
In this class we learned an easy technique on how to insert a round bottom, channel quilting, how to apply a band, and handles. The handles are pre-made of heavy duty canvas with contrast topstitching to give a utilitarian look to the basket, you could also make the handles of a contrast fabric to give it a different look-all these options are discussed in class.
Warm summer evenings are also great for sewing!
Check out these students and their projects from last Thursday nights Quilted Cosmetic Bags class. Can you tell we had fun? We learned how to quilt, insert a zipper, made a loop handle and a cool zipper pull accent, too!
I was so inspired I made another one the next morning using Amy Butler home dec fabric to match my laptop cover.
Look for these classes on the schedule for August
Join us for this fun workshop with Heidi, make a cool pillow and learn some new sewing techniques in the process. Using fabrics from designers such as Amy Butler and Anna Marie Horner, create this pillow to freshen up your room for spring. Inspired by a recent article in Sew News by designer Linda Lee.

Heidi’s been sewing and knitting like a madwoman for her soon to arrive grandson. In case you haven’t heard, her daughter, Megan, is expecting her first baby in March. First grandchild, yes, we’re all sewing, knitting and crocheting like crazy!! We’re makers, and just can’t help it, it’s just what we do.
This week, she started a quilt…
This is the quilt top, it will have a narrow border and free-motion stitching will be applied, similar to the rocket quilt that is on display in the store.
Are these not the most adorable booties you’ve ever seen? These are from Amy Butler’s new book, Little Stitches for Little Ones. And by the way, Amy will be visiting us April 17th, details on that event to be posted soon.
And some knitting, too. This weather is great for knitting and these small projects go quick!! On her needles now is the baby Einstein bunting from Sally Melville , and on her hook is the Babette blanket from Interweave Press.
