Do your friends sew, too? Wouldn’t you love to spend an afternoon together with lots of space to cut and sew…and have the guidance of an experienced seamster to help you along, too?
Maybe you’ve always wanted to make an Amy Butler bag, but were unsure of reading the directions?
How much fabric to get?
How to cut out the pieces?
Well, that’s exactly what a group of 12 friends did at Stitch last weekend. They brought their machines, fabrics, patterns and supplies and had a great afternoon laughing, sewing and actually learning, too! A Private Sewing Party just for your friends-what a great idea!! We have the space, you have the friends, perfect!

The fabulous designers at Project Runway come up wth the most amazing fashions and details, considering the time they have to construct them, don’t they?! I love watching them sketch their designs, and drape their fabrics on the dressforms, too- it’s so workroom-y!! And so much creativity-yikes!! Where do they come up with all those ideas? I’m so glad to see Tim & Heidi again, I missed them, not to mention that they’re back in New York – yay!
Learn how to sketch your designs, drape, make a pattern and construct your dreams, too! Private lessons at Stitch are just the thing to get you started!

Our Tuesday After School seamsters just completed their first project. Here they are showing off their creations.

They are so much fun and amazing with their enthusiasm. On their first project, they have learned how to channel quilt, insert a zipper and use the Fasturn tool for making the zipper pull. As well as straight stitching practice and using the zigzag stitch on their machines.
They have a very long a list of projects they want to make, including bean bag chairs, clothing, American Girl Doll clothes, pillows, fleece mittens & hats, and even a quilt. Yay for sewing!
Call Stitch to set up a Sewing Club with your friends!
yay, it’s on again! I was very impressed with the designs last week and can’t wait to see it again tonight. Did you watch last week?

Yay summer! Now that it’s warmer, it’s time to make some summer skirts-great to wear with camis, halters or tees. A-line, fitted or tiers of ruffles-you can never have too many skirts in my opinion! We also have Amy Butler’s Barcelona skirt pattern, an all time favorite of our students.
Sign up for Skirt Bootcamp with Megan – Learn to create a skirt from start to finish. We’ll begin by learning how to determine size and cut a commercial pattern. Discover the benefits of making a muslin first and learn to fit and move alterations to your pattern. You will have a finished skirt you can wear for the rest of the summer! Open to students 13 and up, this is also a great opportunity for a mother-daughter activity ($200 for both). August 10th – 14th, noon – 2pm, $135 All supplies included!
We know you’re busy, so remember- you can always schedule a private lesson to fit your schedule.

and save some cash while ya do it! Take a look at these projects friends, Ingritt and Darryl made together last week. They caught the “I wanna sew” bug and signed up for a few lessons together while the kids are were in school. Fun! Their first lesson was a pattern for a coin purse with a zipper, a little overwhelming for them at first, but with our help it was a breeze. Their second project was this shoulder bag, Ingritt chose our fabric with the bird from Tina Givens collection and Darryl has an endless stash of vintage fabrics, they had so much fun together and completed their bags with the perfect buttons.

Schedule a lesson with a friend, make the same project and the lesson rate is only $35 each for two hours.

Heidi’s been sewing and knitting like a madwoman for her soon to arrive grandson. In case you haven’t heard, her daughter, Megan, is expecting her first baby in March. First grandchild, yes, we’re all sewing, knitting and crocheting like crazy!! We’re makers, and just can’t help it, it’s just what we do.
This week, she started a quilt…

This is the quilt top, it will have a narrow border and free-motion stitching will be applied, similar to the rocket quilt that is on display in the store.

Are these not the most adorable booties you’ve ever seen? These are from Amy Butler’s new book, Little Stitches for Little Ones. And by the way, Amy will be visiting us April 17th, details on that event to be posted soon.

And some knitting, too. This weather is great for knitting and these small projects go quick!! On her needles now is the baby Einstein bunting from Sally Melville , and on her hook is the Babette blanket from Interweave Press.
And by the way, you can learn all of these techniques at Stitch Cleveland, because that’s what we do!
what’s everyone saying?
